Our Approach

At Little Lambs, our curriculum is built on the EYFS framework, but we believe children learn best through real experiences.
We never assume a child can't do something simply because of their age. Every child develops differently. We plan around what a child shows us they're ready for, always with age-appropriate safety in mind.
To support different learning styles, we offer a mix of in-house and external extra-curricular activities, giving children a broad range of experiences beyond the everyday routine. Whatever a child's strengths, there's a way for them to explore, discover and grow at Little Lambs.

A Typical Day

Every day looks a little different, but here's what you can expect. You'll be able to follow your little one's day as it happens through updates on our Famly app.

Drop-off

You and your child are welcomed with a familiar face, their key worker, right from the door. Breakfast follows shortly after, giving little ones a gentle start to the day.

Outdoor time

We start the day with time outdoors. It's not just for fresh air. Outdoor play helps children build confidence, coordination and a sense of the world beyond four walls, and mornings are when we see them at their most curious. Whether it's the garden, a local park, or exploring the streets around Peckham, being outside is a core part of how children learn at Little Lambs.

Child-led play and learning

Throughout the day, children are free to follow their own curiosity, with our team close by, gently extending their thinking and offering new challenges along the way. Whether it's building, exploring, or quiet time with a book, every child's day looks a little different, shaped by what interests them.

Meal times

Meal times are about much more than food they're an opportunity for children to come together, build friendships and develop healthy eating habits in a relaxed, family-style environment.

Our meals are freshly prepared by our trusted catering partner, Direct Kitchen, and delivered hot to the nursery every morning. Menus are carefully planned to provide nutritious, balanced meals while following strict food safety standards, including our no-nut policy, and catering for allergies and dietary requirements.

Children enjoy eating together with our educators, chatting, sharing conversations and learning valuable social skills. Where appropriate, we also bring together children from different age groups, giving them the opportunity to learn from one another and build confidence in a nurturing environment.

Lessons in self-care

We teach children the basics of looking after themselves, both physically and mentally, from handwashing and brushing teeth to toilet routines and quiet, wind-down moments. These small daily lessons build real independence and confidence, one habit at a time.

Sleep and relaxation

Rest matters just as much as play. Our sleep areas are calm, comfortable spaces. We play delta wave music to support deeper, more restful sleep. For children who no longer nap, there's a dedicated space for quiet play instead, so every child's need for rest is met in the right way for them.

Structured learning

Our curriculum is designed by our in-house reception teacher, giving children a strong foundation and helping prepare them for school. Day to day, our team brings this to life through in-the-moment planning, following each child's interests and using everyday opportunities to build on what they're learning.

Collection time

At the end of the day, your child's key worker will be there to greet you and hand over. It's a chance for a quick chat about how their day went, before heading home together.
